Five Strategies for Impactful Feedback
Precision and Timeliness Don't just say "Good job." Be specific: "Your market trend analysis was particularly insightful." Act fast: Provide feedback soon after the event for maximum impact.
The Praise-Critique Balance Recognize strengths while addressing improvement areas. Example: • Praise: "Your report was impressively thorough." • Critique: "For future reports, consider adding an executive summary."
Actions, Not Personality Focus on behaviors to promote growth and avoid defensiveness. Instead of: "You're disorganized." Try: "I noticed some missing documents. Let's create a checklist for completeness."
Foster Dialogue Make feedback a two-way conversation. Ask: "What challenges did you face, and how can we tackle them together?"
Provide Clear Next Steps Offer practical improvement strategies. Example: "To enhance your presentations, try rehearsing with a colleague and timing your delivery."
Your Next Move Reflect on your recent interactions. How can you incorporate these strategies into your feedback approach?
Remember: Thoughtful feedback is a powerful catalyst for growth and progress.
Thank you for your continued readership. We're committed to empowering your leadership journey.
Lead on,
